big fan of your work. fantastic to finally see more photos on your site... would love to see even more, particularly w/ accompanying text... any monographs in the making?
Nicole,
I wasn't sure if you were aware of this monograph (from 2005)?: http://www.amazon.com/Salmela-Architect-Thomas-Fisher/dp/0816642575
Cheer,
Eric
Actually, I read that book a couple of years ago, which is what left me wanting more of Salmela Arch! I may need to revisit it, however, if there's nothing new in the works. Thanks!
Nicole/Eric:
Thank you for your interest and for visiting the site & blog!
There is talk of another book with more recent projects - but dates and details are not certain, yet.
Will certainly keep you posted...

great to hear on the book - hope to see it soon!
You do really great work. It's creative and fun. I love what you do with both the interior space and the exterior. You are really talented. Ley's ahve lunch and talk design
Hi David, saw a picture of your Emerson Sauna which led me to your site.It would be good to see more pictures of it if they're available. The roof is very striking, turning the gable fasica board back inwards at the soffit of the pitched roof is simple but has a powerful effect of suddnely turning to roof into a sybolic "A" shape. A lot of your work seems to share a play between heaviness and lightness, but without sacrificing subtlety (which is rare in published projects these days). The limited palette also seems to give a certain freedom in form-making. I'd be interested to know of any other architects whose work you'd recommend looking at? Anyway, nice work, hope to see more in the future, Colin
Fantastic photos of your work!
Your second name Salmela sounds a Finnish name. May I ask, if you have the Finnish connection?
I checked your site after viewing the Madeline Island residence in dwell. Location tends to be the second thing I look for. It is nice to see snow on buildings. I am from Wisconsin and interesting residences and visions of FLW having the Packard loaded to head for AZ when winter arrives tend to go together.
Mr. Salmela:
Trying to get in contact with you. Thurs. 30 Sept. sauna at the Swedish Institute. www.saunatimes.com
Would love to see an artist's rendition of the new Izzy's ice cream plant near Gold Medal Park. Where could I find such a sketch?
Jerry
We live directly across from the new plant by Gold Medal Park. Has construction stalled? There has been little or no activity for quite a while now. Occasionally, one or two workers show up but most days no one does. At some point, we will get tired of seeing a black-wrapped shell of a building. What is going on? I'm still anxious to see the final produce and we did drive to the St. Paul store to look at the drawing in the window. But now we want to see the final thing. Help.
Just saw the photo's of the Koosman Residence on ArchDaily.com Looking GOOD.
